Scottish chemist, explorer, and mountaineer, Alexander Kellas died in 1921 on the first expedition to Mount Everest. He was highly regarded among Himalayan mountaineers, having climbed more peaks above 22,000 feet than anyone else and having paved the way for the conquest of everest and Kangchenjunga. Using many of Kellas' own unpublished photographs Ian Mitchell tells the remarkable story of this forgotten hero of Scottish exploration. This talk is part of the Royal Scottish Geographical Society's 'Inspiring People' talks programme.
