Helensburgh Heroes
Helensburgh Heroes is a Scottish registered charity that has been created by local people with the specific intent of procuring, delivering and managing leisure and arts facilities that will educate, inform and above all inspire.
In addition to its project work, the charity has established a Helensburgh Hall of Fame. Scotland has produced some of the finest scientific, creative, inspiring men and women that have ever lived. And many of them have very strong links with the Helensburgh area. The Helensburgh Heroes Hall of Fame aims to formally recognise, honour and celebrate the lives and achievements of the many men and women, with connections to the Helensburgh area, who have made, and are continuing to make, significant and inspirational contributions to the society of today.
From the “Father of Television” through to stars of stage and screen, from military heroes to the pioneers of the Glasgow Boys movement. The influence of the people who have associations with the area extends far beyond the boundaries of the Clyde’s Garden City.
Helensburgh Heroes is currently involved in a major project that will hopefully bring about a Community Arts Centre to the Helensburgh area. With a planned opening of summer 2012, the Centre will provide a fitting tribute to our identified 'Heroes' whilst providing film and arts facilities to our community.
Details of the project's progress can be found on the Helensburgh Heroes Facebook page.
